Getting ready for recovery begins
by clearing out the chemicals
Leftover toxins from substance abuse combined with poor nutrition can stall recovery and create continued suffering. We work to solve this by creating an individualized, compassionate care plan for each patient that includes working with our in house chef to create a well-balanced diet, and use of carefully selected supplements. In this case, initial detox can act as a catalyst for recovery and jumpstart a journey to healed neurobiology.
Prior to admission to our program, every participant will receive a full medical evaluation/physical by the team at Steamboat Emergency Center. During this process, they will receive initial bloodwork, a complete and thorough physical, and an in-depth assessment to gauge and address initial withdrawal symptoms. After being medically cleared, they are transferred to one of our specialized detox rooms at the main facility.
Upon admission to our detox, each participant receives another thorough assessment by our medical team. We assess for withdrawal symptoms and develop an individualized care plan to aggressively manage symptoms and relieve the anxiety and other co-occurring symptoms that accompany withdrawal. This joint decision making between patient and provider is key to the success of our detox program. By co-creating the treatment plan rather than one-sided traditional treatment models, we create an additional level of buy-in by the participant and empower them to take ownership of their treatment.
In addition to the process stated above, every participant is offered the following medical assessments:
HIV, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C
Sexually transmitted diseases
Screen for diabetes
Using these results, we formulate a specific supplement regimen and rule out acute medical issues that can complicate early recovery. Once the participant is free of withdrawal symptoms they are cleared to participant in regular groups, activities, and events in residential treatment at the ranch.
