Addressing Trauma

The Data

Trauma, whether PTSD or developmental, is a serious medical problem that can lead to substance use and mental health disorders and make it harder to maintain recovery.

Trauma, unfortunately, is very common in our society. Research indicates that 40 percent of people with PTSD also experience substance use disorders. Identifying underlying trauma, treating its affects, and learning to reduce future trauma exposures is crucial to restoring normal functioning and the ability to sustain recovery.

25% EXPERIENCE ABUSE OR NEGLECT

16% OF YOUTHS 14 - 17 SEXUALLY VICTIMIZED

70% OF ADULTS IN THE U.S.

Treatment Philosophy

Deeper Approach

Addressing trauma in all its forms on individuals and family systems

Foundry Steamboat is founded on the idea that trauma, whether PTSD, developmental, or adverse life events, is a prominent feature of addictive disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Identifying untreated trauma and helping to process and resolve its effects is crucial to allowing people to enter recovery. Also vital is the need to understand the implications of addiction on entire family systems and help families restore healthy behaviors and communication to restore quality of life for all members and support the recovery of their loved one.

My perspective is that of a parent whose son was at The Foundary for a short time. His serious mental illness did not allow him to stay, however I can say that the Foundary tried everything they could and eventually did right by all of us and our family. I sincerely wish them well, and they will do well because they have they have the residents’ best interest at heart - which is recovery, from addiction and/or mental illness.

While I have not been a participant at The Foundry, through my work I have toured all of the facilities extensively. I was very impressed with the incredible range of activities their residential program offers. It's very rare to find equine therapy, NAD cellular detox, and a wellness program that is seemingly endless in activities (yoga, hiking, gardening, community service, resume building, job searching). I was also impressed with the 22 hours of therapy that are provided each week - the indu

They saved my life. Now 90 days sober/clean. By far the best clinical and theraputic care I've ever experienced in my life. I had been to drug/alcohol treatment before and this is not the same. The staff and physicians actually care about what happens to you and will fight your insurance for more time. Please understand that not everyone will get 90 days but if you are prepared to pay for it out of pocket please do!!! They will work with you and find a payment plan that works.
